Course Description: Buildings account for nearly 40 percent of the energy consumed in the United States, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that about 30 percent of the energy used in commercial facilities is wasted. Reducing this waste requires a thoughtful energy management program that meets current efficiency standards and supports greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals.
In this two-hour virtual training, you will explore a step-by-step approach to managing a facility’s energy demand and consumption. Through data gathering, system assessments, and analysis of real-world scenarios, you will practice identifying savings opportunities and performing calculations to evaluate both energy and cost impacts.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the importance of proactive energy management in buildings.
- Interpret codes, standards, and local ordinances that shape energy use.
- Establish energy baselines and perform benchmarking.
- Explain the ASHRAE audit process, including Levels 1, 2, and 3.
- Apply sample tools and calculations to evaluate energy and cost savings.
