Course Description: The Introduction to the Principles of Transportation Electrification (“TE”) course is designed for those new to the industry. The course will cover a brief history of the TE market, an overview of the legislative and regulatory environment, a review of utility TE programs, an understanding of the role of the utility in supporting TE, and steps to plan, implement, and evaluate TE pilots, programs, and portfolios. Students can expect to come away with a better understanding of what TE entails, and why it’s important for utilities to lead in this transition to electric transportation.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the historical development and current state of the TE market in the US.
- Identify key legislative and regulatory drivers for TE at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Compare and contrast different types of utility TE programs, such as rebates and incentives, rates, education and outreach, and infrastructure deployment.
- Apply the principles of utility planning, implementation, and evaluation to design and manage TE pilots, programs, and portfolios that meet customer needs and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate their understanding of the role and value proposition of the utility in supporting the transition to electric transportation, and the benefits and challenges of TE for the utility, customers, and society.
*Attendees must earn an 70% or higher on the final course test in order to earn 0.4 CEUs.
